Well, what a week! We started it off with Ben’s birthday party…very fun! Then we had a doc appointment with Doc H. He seems to be “on board” with inducing early. He doesn’t really see a problem with 2 weeks early, but just to make sure, we have another ultrasound on July 5th. Then we have a doc appointment on July 10th. My theory is that he will say, “head to the hospital tonight”. This means, if everything goes similar with Ben’s delivery, that we will have a July 11th (7/11) baby…not my favorite date in the world, but hey, he’ll be here! That puts him at 10 days early. We’ll see! Then we had Ben’s official birthday…to which Mommy took him out to lunch…very fun! Then Friday brought Target and grocery shopping. Saturday, the power went off for about 2-2 1/2 hours (right in the middle of the day…hot). The rain that came with the lightening and wind was supposed to cool things down and get rid of the humidity, but it just rained really hard for maybe a minute and then quit…just enough to make everything feel worse outside & in. We cooled off at Grandma’s house!
As far as baby development, there really isn’t much anymore other than the babe starts really packin’ on the pounds this last month and his lungs should be fully mature by 37-37 1/2 weeks or so. So, I won’t bore you with more of the same!
There is a story for you though…This morning, I woke up at 5:30am to go pee (go figure) and then I laid back in bed. I started contracting every 5 minutes and they lasted about 1 minute. I tried changing positions, walking around and sitting. None of that made them change. Around 8:05, I put in a call to the doc’s exchange line. He called back around 8:45 (thank goodness it wasn’t truly an emergency!)
Anyway, he said to lay down, take it easy today, drink lots of water and see if they subside. He said that they probably would stop, but if they didn’t, or got closer together or my water broke, to go to the hospital. He asked me a few questions about pain and where I was feeling it. Then he said that chances are that the contractions that I was having weren’t really doing anything to change my cervix…we’ll see on Tuesday (that’s the next doc appointment). Anyhow, he’s REALLY low, I’ve dropped a little and am still having contractions, but now they are around 10 minutes apart and still last around 1 minute. A tiny part of me wants to go walk around the block…but he’s really early at this point, so I won’t. Not to mention that it’s already like 85 degrees with a 90% humidity…gotta love the Midwest in the summer!
