We moved Ben into a “big boy bed” tonight. This is the first time he’s slept in a bed here at home. I’ve tried putting him in bed with me a few times when he was sick, but he gets overly-excited about sleeping in the same bed with Mommy, that it never lasted very long.
Grandpa came over to help move the mattress upstairs. Ben was SUPER excited (you can see it all over his face in the pictures!)…jumping up and down, talking really loud and fast, clapping his hands. He was really worked up. When it came time to go to bed, he was really hyper. I tried to get him to take a couple of deep breaths to relax. He went to bed around 10:30. It’s now just after 11 and he’s still up there talking (whispering)…we’ll see! I really hope he goes to sleep soon! I only got about 4 hours of consecutive sleep last night. We had some pretty strong storms last night…lots of rain and LOTS of wind.
EDIT: Well, Ben talked/whispered until midnight, when he finally fell asleep (which, by the way, is when Mommy & Daddy fell asleep). He woke up talking at 7:30. At 7:40 (when it didn’t look like he was going back to bed), I went in and laid down in bed with him. He brought books up and his big red tractor. We talked and played until 8…hopefully, nap time will come early!!! Mommy’s S-L-E-E-P-Y!!!

I hope last night went well. He looks so small in that big bed! Things are really changing fast for him. I hope you and Neil got some sleep too!

Ben, good job sleeping in your big bed! Maybe tonight you can sleep at little longer?!?! Your mommy and daddy really NEED you to.

That’s actually quite impressive for his first night in a big-boy bed. The fact that he didn’t get out of bed and scream at the doorway is a blessing! Good luck this week, I’m sure it will be tough at times.
Can’t wait to see you in two weeks!!!

Week 2: New ways to take advantage of your new-found freedom (opening the door AND removing the gate =), but the same great Ben.
I think he’s doing better, but you know the catch-all phrase… it’s a work-in-progress.
